Torchwood

Is this the new name for Torchwood? Coined to distinguish it from the teenaged silliness of the BBC Two series? Starring Eve Myles, the series has recently been shooting in Mount Stuart Square on Cardiff Bay, and while there is no mention in the report of any other cast members - leaving certain things to be confirmed - at least Eve looks stunning in those black boots.

A crew member said: “I can’t give anything away, but this series has a lot of surprises in store for viewers. “Eve is great, so easy to work with. She’s lovely and good fun on set, but a true professional too.” He added that Cardiff had proved to be an excellent choice as a filming location. Torchwood film crew “What makes our job so much easier is that the people of Cardiff are so supportive,” he said.

“The businesses around this area could make things difficult for filming but they are being so cooperative.” The single five-part story that comprises the third series of Torchwood will be helmed by Euros Lyn, a director previously responsible for some of Doctor Who's recent successes. Apparently Executive Producer Russell T Davies told production staff: “I usually give you all one or two tone words when we have a meeting like this, but if I were to give you two words this time, they would be ‘Euros Lyn’. “

More than ever before, this series of Torchwood will be director-led, and it will look absolutely amazing.” The series is expected to air in Spring 2009. and Children of Earth will star the remaining Torchwood regulars of John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkess, Eve Myles and Gwen, Gareth David-Llyoyd as Ianto Jones and Kai Owen as "Mr Gwen Cooper" Rhys Williams and Tom Price as Gwen's former police colleague Andy. The stakes are high as Torchwood battle for the future of the human race against the fiercest force they have encountered.

Also appearing are Peter Capaldi (Fires of Pompeii) as Mr Frobisher (a civil servant who is hiding a terrible secret), Paul Copely as Clem (a survivor haunted by his past) and Liz May Brice (The Bill) as Johnson, cynical covert government agent determined to expose Torchwood. John Fay and James Moran join Russell T Davies on writing duties for Children of Earth, with the enire production directed by Euros Lyn. Says Russell: "The new series of Torchwood is hugely bold and promises to be bigger and better than ever – the audience is in for an amazing ride. "This series is one big serial and the most ambitious story we've ever made, and we've got plenty of surprises in store." Julie Gardner, Head of Drama, BBC Wales, said: "We hope to make Torchwood a gripping and surprising TV event with storylines that push our team into greater danger and sacrifice. "

Joining our main cast are some fantastic guest artists who will only add to making this unmissable TV." After scoring audience figures as high as 5.1 million for the BBC Two screening of Series 2, and been sold to over 20 countries, Torchwood moves to BBC One with this third run.
